      Trust refers to the belief and reliance on a person, organization, or thing that is true, reliable, and trustworthy. It is built on mutual respect, honesty, and integrity, and it takes time and experience to build and consolidate. Trust is an emotional and psychological connection that fosters cooperation, solidarity, and the achievement of common goals. It plays a vital role in various areas such as personal relationships, business transactions, political relations, etc.

      When managing people, there are always challenges in trust and creating vulnerable situations that may affect the relationship and performance (Mayer and Gavin, 2005; Serva et al., 2005)

      Hence the exploration and development of trust in managing people are becoming important.

      Nowadays, research indicated that there is a positive impact between trust in management and performance, no matter in the working environment or family (Dirks and Ferrin, 2002; McEvily et al., 2003; Mayer and Gavin, 2005; Li and Tan, 2013; Drescher et al., 2014; Su et al., 2020a, 2020b; Tisu et al., 2021; Hou et al., 2021).

      Essence of Trust

      It is essential in human beings, relationships, organizations, and society. Trust plays a fundamental role in effective cooperation. It impacts relationships, teamwork, and collaboration.

      When people face challenging situations in their work, a trustworthy relationship with their management will be crucial to the task. Trust is an important resource for management to lead and sustain employees’ trust during tough times. It affects organization performance, innovation, and staff engagement.

      Trust and Relationship

      Respect the other person: Respect the other person’s needs, boundaries, and perspectives, even if they don’t agree with you. Show kindness and empathy. Reliable Commitment: Be prudent in your commitment and keep your promises. If you can’t do it, take the initiative to explain why and seek understanding.

      Altruistic care: Demonstrate genuine concern for the other person. Offer help and support, not just ask for it.

      Emotional involvement: Invest time and energy to get to know and pay attention to the other person, rather than being aloof and cold.

      Privacy: Respect the privacy boundaries of the other party and do not disclose sensitive information without authorization.

      Fix mistakes: Proactively admit mistakes and apologize in an effort to repair damaged trust.

      Be patient: Sometimes you need to give the other person time and space to be patient and wait for the relationship to deepen.

      In short, building a relationship of trust requires mutual benefit, inclusiveness, honesty, and caring. It is through continuous dedication that we build strong human connections.

      To Repair Damaged Trust in a Relationship

      Communicate openly and honestly take the initiative to admit your mistakes and misdeeds, and sincerely apologize. Listen patiently to the other person’s feelings and needs, and let the other person feel your sincerity.

      Trust in Leadership

      Trust is very important in leading a team. Here are some of the ways trust can be applied to leading a team.

      Establish good communication: Establishing open, transparent, and honest communication with team members can help build trust. Make sure everyone has the opportunity to share their thoughts and opinions and be mindful of active listening. Show honesty and transparency: As a leader, showing authenticity and transparency can help build trust. Letting team members know what you’re thinking, the reasons behind your decisions, and your values can help them understand your motivations and intentions.

      Establish a common goal: Ensuring that team members understand how their work contributes to the overall team’s goals, and that everyone is involved in the process, can help build trust and a sense of commonality.

      Empowerment and empowerment: Give team members enough autonomy and responsibility so that they feel that you trust them. This increases their sense of engagement and responsibility.

      Respect and support: Respect and support team members’ ideas and decisions, even if you don’t necessarily agree completely. This can help build trust and increase teamwork.

      Overall, trust is very important in leading a team, and through the above methods, you can build a circle of trust and mutual trust, and promote team cooperation and achievement.

      Trust in Society

When people feel trust in other people and the various institutions and systems of society, they are more actively involved in social activities and willing to participate in the construction and development of society.

      However, trust in society is not unlimited. It takes time and effort to build and maintain and can be compromised by a variety of factors. For example, dishonest behavior, economic instability, or political turmoil may affect people’s sense of trust in society.

      Therefore, in order to promote a sense of trust in society, we need to establish a fair and just social system and laws and pay more attention and respect to cooperation and trust between people. Only in such an environment can the sense of trust in society be stronger and more durable.

      Trust in Parenting

      Trust is very important in the parent-child relationship. Building trust can help build good communication and understanding between parents and children. Here are some ways to build trust:

      Establish open communication: Let your child know that they can always be open to discussing their questions and concerns with you. Parents should listen to their children’s thoughts and feelings and respond with respect and empathy.

      Keeping promises: Keeping your own promises strengthens trust between parents and children. When parents do what they say, children feel that they can rely on their parents.

      Provide support and encouragement: Parents should give support and encouragement to their children when they are struggling, letting them know that parents believe in their abilities.

      Respect for privacy: Respecting your child’s privacy and personal space builds trust. Parents should let their children know that their private space and personal information will be respected and protected.

      Giving autonomy: Giving children autonomy within reasonable limits can increase their confidence in themselves and help build trust.

      Trust in a Married Couple

      It is very important to a married couple. Trust between couples can be built on genuine communication, loyalty, and mutual support for each other. If there is a lack of trust between couples, the relationship can become fragile and unstable. To build trust, both parties need to be honest about each other’s feelings and needs and to be loyal to each other. In addition, trust between couples also needs to be based on mutual support and understanding to face life’s challenges and difficulties together. When couples build a healthy relationship of trust with each other, their relationship will be stronger and longer-lasting.

      Trust in School

      Building trust between teachers and students is a crucial factor. This trust not only helps to promote learning but also helps to build a good teacher-student relationship. Here are some steps to establish effective teacher-student dialogue and companionship:

      Trust each other: The foundation of a good relationship is trust. Parents and teachers should trust each other and be willing to share their child’s condition. This helps teachers get to know their students better and create lesson plans that work for them.

      Respectful attitude: Respect is another important factor in building a strong relationship. Teachers and parents should treat each other with respect and avoid using challenging or contemptuous tones. This helps to reduce the diaphragm and promotes effective communication

      Listen and understand: Teachers should listen to students’ needs and feelings and express their understanding of them. Through effective communication, teachers can better understand students’ situations and provide appropriate support3.

      Set goals together: Teachers and students should set learning goals together. This helps to establish common goals and fosters deeper collaboration.

      Trust is the cornerstone of a good teacher-student relationship, and through respect, listening, and shared purpose, we can build an environment that supports student growth.

      Trust happens everywhere, if people build trust in society matter in the workplace, school, or family, it may definitely strengthen cooperation and more productive. However, when people are just focused on their benefit when dealing with their partners, trust may be damaged from a certain point of view. On the other hand, a trustworthy person should have integrity, empathy, and well listening attitude, at the same time he or she will admit his/her mistakes.

      Once trust is damaged, it truly takes a long time to rebuild and regain, or sometimes it may not succeed.

      Trust in all kinds of relationships obtains sincerity and respect. Trust should be built in the childhood period, it is essential to the parent-child relationship, and trust building, mindset will be injected with a trustworthy and positive attitude and will influence in their development. Nevertheless, parents acting as role models is also critical. Children will learn from their parent’s day-to-day actions and behavior. On the other side, it is also important to educate children when trust has been damaged. Parents and teachers are responsible for childhood and educating the positive and growth mindset including building trust.

      Should you be a leader, parent, or teacher, setting a clear objective on your responsibility, may help to build a clear direction for your relationship with subordinates or children. Invest time Through honest, transparent, and effective communication, well listening to their message, most importantly sincerity, when mistakes happen, traditionally leaders, teachers, or parents may ignore or forget to apologize and just quickly fix the issue. Building trust is to take immediate action to admit the mistakes. It may foster the relationship and regain understanding from them. This may definitely build a role model to the subordinates or children for their learning in the future and also strengthen their confidence when one day they face the same situation and admit to their mistakes. It increases cooperation and performance, it also deepens the relationship between each other. Hence, trust is an important element in the society.
