PartnerRe Capital Management, the specialist division of global reinsurer PartnerRe that manages third-party capital on behalf of investors and deploys it to reinsurance opportunities, has hired Benjamin Baltesar as Head of Portfolio and Analytics.
Baltesar started his career working at French insurer Axéria Prévoyance as a Portfolio Analyst, then spent a short time at PartnerRe in life pricing, before moving to Societe Generale where he undertook an apprenticeship focused on reinsurance.
In 2012, he joined reinsurer Hiscox Re as a Junior Treaty Underwriter in Paris, shortly after becoming a certified actuary and Underwriter. Baltesar then moved to the UK for the company and became a Treaty Underwriter for the Hiscox Re and Insurance Linked Strategies division.
Baltesar then moved to the ILS investment management world by joining Credit Suisse ILS as a Vice President and Senior Underwriter in 2019.
In 2022 he was promoted to become Head of Underwriting & Pricing for the Credit Suisse ILS unit.
Baltesar then stayed with that team through the management buyout and transformation into Euler ILS Partners, where he was a Vice President of Investments.
Now, he has joined PartnerRe in recent days, stepping into a key role within its third-party capital and ILS focused PartnerRe Capital Management division.
As Head of Portfolio and Analytics, Baltesar will provide oversight to portfolio construction, as well as risk modelling and analytics, for the third-party investor-backed strategies offered by PartnerRe Capital Management.
This new senior hire comes on the heels of the announcement that PartnerRe Capital Management has new leadership, as Andrew Laing was promoted to become the new Head of the division.
The addition of Baltesar now further strengthens the PartnerRe Capital Management operation, as it builds for the future.
